Dr. Jaya Vas

Dr. Vas received her doctoral degree from Temple University, Philadelphia, where she studied the role of iNKT cells in heavy metal-induced autoimmunity. Subsequently, she completed a four-year postdoctoral stint at UCSD and NYU, where she studied the role of a natural anti-apoptotic cell IgM in systemic autoimmune disease. Her work has been published in numerous journals, including the Journal of Immunology, Arthritis & Rheumatism, and PNAS. While on sabbatical in India, she was hired as the Assistant Managing Editor for an international editing company, and gained experience editing manuscripts in a range of subject areas, including immunology, cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, structural biology, genetics, virology, microbiology, and biotechnology. She started freelance editing after the birth of her daughter, and has had extensive experience in working with manuscripts authored by non-native English speakers.
