July 2, 2014
Dr Josephine Kilner has gained two doctorates, her first PhD was in Biophysics studying the structure of chromatin at the Synchrotron Radiation Source, Daresbury, UK; her second was at the University of Sheffield, modelling the relationship between small-chain fatty acids, dietary fibre and colorectal cancer. She also has an MSc in Human Nutrition at the Medical School in Sheffield. Her expertise covers a wide range of biomolecular and life sciences, particularly in relation to oncology. She has several first-author publications and continues to be active in research. Dr Kilner now works primarily as a freelance editor and advisor in manuscript preparation. She believes it is important to support researchers who are advancing medical science, especially those whose first language is not English. Outside her research career, she spends time volunteering to improve childhood nutrition in Cambodia – and loves being in the mountains with her dog.
